June 27, 2009 - to the lakehouse!

Colin and I finally used our invitation to go out to Jay and Blake's lake house in Pewaukee and we will definitely be back again this summer!  It was so relaxing, peaceful (minus the 8 kids that were there this afternoon! :) and fun to play outside and enjoy the summertime!

Keith and Sandy, their neighbors, hung out for the afternoon too-- and Keith had a blast filling up water balloons for the kids!

Colin was quite hesitant with swimming in a lake (his first time) so we're going to need a lot of practice this summer to get over the plants in the water and getting used to jumping off a dock!  Thanks much to Jay and Blake for opening up their summer home for all of their friends to enjoy with them!

June 26, 2009 - water fountain fun

June 26, 2009 - SUMMERFEST!!!!

Colin had his first Summerfest adventure today; Melissa and I took 'early outs' at work, picked up Colin from school and headed down to the grounds for a ton of fun like...

... and of course... jamming to some live bands!!! It is Summerfest after all!  Colin amused all that walked by him with his mad air guitar and dancing skills.  We were out of the park by 8:30 which was perfect timing to leave with a little man before it got rowdy :)

June 21, 2009 - Rivinia picnic and music night with la Familia!

A road trip to the Rivinia music festival grounds in northern IL to celebrate our friend Mark's birthday and enjoy a picnic with live music by Pink Martini!

June 16, 2009 - fun shirts

     

Colin got 2 super cool t-shirt presents... and got to open them both today!  

Aunt Lissa made Colin his own White Rabbits tee (after we were jealous of the one Kivrin had! :) and Auntie Marissa got Colin his 'dude. seriously.' shirt in Madison! Thanks!!

June 14, 2009 - Shoreland Ave block party!

Annual Shoreland Ave block party-- it was a perfect day for the festivities and everyone had a fabulous time!  I helped out with the kids activities again and it was a hit- silly putty, colorful butterfly/flowers and then the messiest of all.. cornstarch goo! 

  

The dads arranged a water balloon launch and Allison from next door made a great scavenger hunt and pinata (see the kids scrounging for the goodies below!)

  

And the block party couldn't be complete without a fire pit and smores!

  

June 12, 2009 - marsupial bridge walk

We had a little time before we met our friends at Trocadero for Friday Fish Fry, so Colin and I took a walk over the marsupial bridge and then a little nature walk along the makeshift bike path.  Colin picked some wildflowers that he then handed out to everyone at the restaurant!

June 6, 2009 - fun weekend in Peoria

Weekend road trip to Peoria to stay with the Weinmans and to also see the extended Deatherage clans!  Colin loved playing with all of the kids and Mama loved to catch up with some of her college roomies!  We only wish it could have been a full fledged reunion night with all of our lovely ladies!

May 31, 2009 - White Rabbits at Do Division Fest in Chi

Colin and I drove to Chicago to see the White Rabbits at the Do Division street festival.  It was definitely worth the trek!  The White Rabbits just released a new record, It's Frightening, and started their summer tour.  I grew up with Steve Patterson who is in the band and does vocals and keyboard. We met his family who drove up from St. Louis to see the performance and it was great to see Suzy, Dan and Sara too! 

Colin is definitely turning into quite the rocker :)

Colin loved the whole experience and I think that this will be his first of many music festivals.  On the drive home, the first thing he told me was that he wanted to call Steve.  When asked why, he said that he wanted to tell him that he liked his singing and keyboard playing, and that he also liked the drums :)
